In which online degree program do you teach?

  • What do you want your students to take away from class?

At the undergraduate level, my goal is for students to think critically and connect theoretical content with clinical practice in order to provide safe, competent patient care. At the graduate level, my goal is to inspire future nurse educators to help shape future generations of professional nurses.

  • Why did you start teaching?

My love for nursing, coupled with my love for teaching, led me to become a nursing professor. There is no greater joy as an educator than to see my students not only succeed but surpass what they thought they were capable of!

  • What advice would you give to your future online students?

Stay organized, don't fall behind, and communicate if you're having difficulty.

  • What is the value of a higher degree in the field in which you teach?

A master's degree in nursing education affords several opportunities for teaching, including higher education, clinical/staff education, and vocational education.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

I love to read but can't always find the time. I do enjoy a good movie. Some of my favorites are “Hidden Figures”, “The Hunger Games”, “A Star is Born”, and “The Proposal”.

  • What do you do when you need a laugh?

I love old episodes of “Friends”, “The Goldberg's”, and “The Middle”.

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know about you.

I love music! There's always a song running in my head and I love to sing. I grew up singing in church and was in several choirs. Yes, even show choir! Spend some time in the car with me and you'll get a free concert.
